These are my personal beliefs and opinions based on what I have heard President Bush say and do. I am directing it all to him, personally. Not that I think he will read it, but that is just how it came out. *shrugs*
I'm not looking for a fight. I just feel the need to express my opinion. Debates and intelligent discussion are welcome. Any flames, insults or degradation of my character will be immediately removed. Thank you.
So on one of those lovely 'vote Bush' ads I heard this quote from Pres. Bush himself, "I know what we need to do to make sure that every person has the opportunity to realize the American Dream."
This is my response -
Really? You do? Well, what are you going to do, then? Anything? Because all I've heard is that you "know what needs to be done" not that you're actually going to do it. The first thirty minutes of your State of the Union Address was as such.
And what do you mean by "every person"? What if someone's "American Dream" is to marry the person they are in love with? Of the same sex? How is banning them from that right allowing them to realize the American Dream? How is pushing forth on amending our constitution, making it so marriage is only between a man and a woman, allowing those of us who are bi/gay and want to marry realize the American Dream?
Here's a question for you.
How exactly does it affect you if gay couples, couples that you don't even know, get married? Why do you think you have the right to stop that? Why is that even your business? No, seriously. Why do you care so much about what they do? It's not like they're forcing their opinions or their 'gayness' upon you. Not like you are doing to us.
In my humble opinion, I believe that we have the right to a president who supports every race, religion and sexual orientation. Who accepts every viewpoint and does not take his own personal beliefs in hand and force them upon us. We don't deserve a president who will use his power to beat us down because he doesn't agree with our views. That, to me, is an abuse of power. And you, President Bush, have no. Damn. Right. to do that.
I understand that in order for new laws to be passed and for progress to be made, it must start somewhere, usually with you or Congress. But this is not progress. You are putting us back in the Dark Ages. *pauses* Next thing you know, we'll hear of you declaring witchcraft/wicca/paganism illegal because it doesn't fit in with the Christian views you are so happy to exert.
Frankly, I feel you should step down. *shrugs* But that's just me. I guess we'll see how the American people really feel about you in November.
/end rant.
