Notes for Snapshots (working title) –
Stories #’s 9, 10, 12 and 15 reveal the most in Aaron’s torment over his feelings for Ryan. They also reveal how submissive Ryan is and how his entire world is about Aaron.
Rage, #15, is a chunk of story. Aaron has other vamps in town on business, since he is the host, it’s his town, he allows them to stay in his mansion. (think huge like the castle used in SV) At this point Aaron is very stressed (vampire politics mixed with business negotiations) and has been avoiding Ryan who lives with him now. In this verse it’s common for vampires to have human slaves. Aaron’s slave is a bit of an anomaly among them as he doesn’t share and seems to care for him. Aaron has never told Ryan, in any way, what Ryan means to him, so when one of the other vampires (Trent, need to change name) tells him that Aaron gave him up for the night, Ryan doesn’t question. He’s very submissive, extremely submissive, doesn’t say no, doesn’t use his safeword, so when T beats the crap out of him, Ryan takes it. One of the first glimmers we get into just how much Aaron cares for Ryan.
#17, Relief, is the beginning. That first meeting between the two. All Aaron intended was to feed from a human he actually found beautiful. Ryan is struck nearly senseless by Aaron’s presence. After this, Aaron can’t get Ryan out of his head. Many story lines came from this one story along with a second version of this scene – give Sadie link. (One deals with Aaron’s sire, and absolute vicious bitch, who took Aaron and his twin (very complicated story line, eventually gave it up) Ash and turned them both, giving Ash to another vamp to ‘raise’ as absolutely evil while she ‘raised’ Aaron to be ‘good’. A few weeks before Aaron sees Ryan, Ash’s sire sends him on a quest to find Aaron and expose him. Ash is following Aaron when he comes across Ryan and after Aaron leaves him, Ash takes Ryan, turns him and delivers him on Aaron’s doorstep. Ryan becomes a secondary character is a battle of wills between Aaron and Ash.)
#21, Dirty, glimpse into Ryan’s life after the first time Aaron left him
#22, Laugh, an anomaly in this verse, kind of shows the possibility between the two of them, once Aaron accepts and admits to his feelings for Ryan. Definitely happens before Ryan is turned.
#23, Home, takes place after third or fourth time Aaron leaves. Longest he’s been gone. Ryan is finally becoming his own person, growing more independent and strong, not so willing to be the slave that Aaron once owned. What isn’t seen is Ryan’s response to the last line here. Ryan pulls away, shoves Aaron, yells at him about how he can’t just jerk Ryan around like this anymore. Tells Aaron that he’s no longer his, to just go away and leave him alone. Ryan leaves, Aaron doesn’t follow. I’m thinking Aaron was gone longer than two months, though, and the time they’ve been together, so to speak, is longer than just a year or so. I get the feeling from Ryan sometimes that nearly a year passes before he sees Aaron again. I can hear him thinking, he never changes, always looks the same, while I grow older every year.
Found this in an old LJ post, most still applies. Also, reminded me of what I found out about Ryan’s past –
He'll never tell Ryan he loves him. He'll never bottom for Ryan, let him touch him there with hands or mouth. He'll never open himself that much to Ryan. Not like he did with Vaughn. And yet, he'll turn Ryan, keep Ryan with him always. Kill anyone who dares to lay a hand on him. Through actions, through words, he'll show Ryan how much he cares. But he will never voice it, he will never be weak or submissive. And yes, I do say never because I *cannot* see it ever happening. I think about it, think about writing it, and it feels *wrong*.
And Ryan? He's happy with what he's given. Aaron collars him and strokes a hand over his face, smiling and Ryan *feels* that love. He's at peace. He doesn't need the words or to be allowed inside in places that Aaron has never opened to anyone. It's enough, what he's given. How little he's given. It's... odd, almost. To think that he is so at peace, so confident, in his place in Aaron's life that he doesn't need what most people do.
There are times, even in the present, when Aaron is still vaguely disturbed by how much he... cares for Ryan. (Heh. Even in his own head he can't say love.) There are times when he gets irritated, angry, shoves Ryan away, emotionally or physically, sends him away. Refuses to see him for days or weeks. I think even one time it was months. But always, always, he goes back, he comes for Ryan.
It's hard for Ryan, though. To be without Aaron. He feels adrift, lost, alone. He has no one. No family, no friends. He grew up in foster care. Was never placed with a family for long. He was too quiet, too serious. So, those times when he's sent away, he spends most of his time sleeping, buried under mounds of covers, in the dark. Refuses to eat or go out. He literally lives for Aaron and with Aaron not there... It's sort of frightening.
Humans are so very easy to feed from. All you need do is act in your very nature and they swoon at your feet, begging you to take them.
Walking through the crowded club district, you let your eyes glance over them and snort disdainfully. So easy, every one. And not a one of them worth more than the passing interest it takes to feed. Sex and blood, both so integrated at times it feels as though they are one and the same.
You’re just passing a club with a raw techno bass pounding out of it when you see him. You flare your nostrils, seeking out his scent, and your eyes burn. This one reeks of innocence, untried lust, and a willingness to do anything for a bit of attention.
Perfect.
You let a thought slither through his mind, urging him to look up and see you. When your eyes lock, that’s when you take him. Striding through the crowd quickly, intent and need bright in your gaze, forcing the boy – for he can’t be but more than twenty – back against a wall as fear reigns in his gaze. The closer you get, the better he smells, and you can’t help the low growl of appreciation as you press against him and scent his neck. Drawing first your lips, then your tongue, then your teeth along the artery that rests just below the surface of his skin, pulse pounding with an instinct that screams run or be eaten.
Your hands tighten on his wrists, pulling his arms away from his body, sliding a thigh in between his and drawing it up until you can hear that soft moan again. The sound that means this boy will give you anything you desire. You enter his mind at the exact moment you strike, taking both his choice and his blood before any thought of protest could even be formed.
