I'm thinking about trying school again. *sighs* I'm crazy, I know.

Being a Pharmacy Technician just didn't pan out. I spent the first year getting straight A's and the next year failing class after class. I left once and then came back, left again and now I'm stuck with a fifteen grand student loan debt and nothing to show for it. It really sucks. Thing is, I don't want to be a Pharmacy Tech. I was there for a reason, I suppose, but that's not the path I was meant to be on. (It's so weird how that works, at least in my head. My path in life is like a long ass twisted road with multiple paths that branch off and turn into dead ends. I keep getting lost on those smaller paths, and when I hit the dead end, I kind of stall until I can find my way back to the main road, and then I start over. Hence how many times I've tried school - three - and how many times I've moved in the last year - four.)

Anyhow, my favorite class in the Pharm Tech program was Pharmaceutical Calculations. I think it's because that class taught me that I really *am* excellent at math. I love formulas and equations and problems with multiple steps. They're fun and challenging and I can get lost in them for hours. I actually audited the class two terms later, even though I passed with a high A, just so I could do new worksheets. *grins* I used to think I sucked in math, so I never even thought about applying myself to a program that relies so heavily on it. Even though jobs like payroll, accounts receivable/accounts payable, and numerous banking tasks have always fascinated me. (I *SO* miss my job at Wells Fargo. It's been almost five years, and I so wish I still had it.)

So, I started browsing around on a couple of community college websites and accounting popped out at me immediately. I went through the program information and class schedules and it all sounds very interesting and kind of fun. I also took an aptitude test and my second best match is finance/accounting.

This is what I found out -

Program Info )

It's almost a perfect fit. I'm extremely computer proficient, I know Excel better than a lot of people I know, algebra is fun for me, and the courses actually sound *interesting*, like I could have fun learning, like I did in Calcs.

I just need to get my taxes finished and go in on a day off and talk to someone in admissions and in financial aid. It's a hell of a lot cheaper than my last school, too. Everest was about a grand for a four credit class and MHCC is about three hundred. It might take me longer than a specialized school, but I don't need another fifteen grand in loans.

So, what do you all think? Should I do it?
